Physiotherapy - Rehabilitation

Entrust yourself to capable hands to regain functional capability and mobility independence, have your recovery driven by professionals alternating activities in the thermal water with moments of dry physical therapies.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy and thermal hydrotherapy

Difficulties in movement due to muscle or joint problems can happen to anyone, perhaps as a result of an accident or a post-operative condition - ailments which in order to be overcome require the assistance of specialists.
It was precisely as a reaction to these issues that the new Rehabilitation Centre was established and now - with the support of specialised staff - it's possible to undergo a series of treatments that, thanks to the use of thermal waters, can reduce the recovery time to a minimum and help to regain independence of movement.

Rehabilitation has two fundamental objectives:

  • to regain any lost capacity due to pathological factors,
  • to prevent a function regression, trying to revise the natural course of the chronic degenerative disease, reducing risk factors and checking any progression.

Moreover, physiotherapy treatment can be useful as preparation prior to surgery, and/or in facilitating post-operative recovery reducing the period of disability.

The Centre undertakes both traditional (dry) orthopaedic rehabilitation and that involving thermal waters (hydrotherapy). All the treatments require an advance booking.

Physical Therapies

The Thermal Cure department of Bormio Terme offers a wide range of physical therapies carried out with the subsidy of technical equipment.

The use of physical means for therapeutic purposes represents a specific tool of the rehabilitative practice.

The physical therapy is normally part of a rehabilitative program with the aim of the full recovery of the patient.

A medical examination within our facility is required before the beginning of the therapy.

Check out below the range of our therapies and by agreement with the medic follow the one that is more appropriate for your pathology.

Ultrasound Therapy

The ultrasound therapy is based on vibrations that spread like waves of compression-decompression with a "come and go movement" of the particles of the transmission tool.

The iteration with the biologic tissues produces mechanical, thermal, chemical and cavitation effects.

This therapy is suggested for all the pathologies that affect the musculoskeletal system because of its analgesic effect: sciatica, neuritis, periarthritis etc.

Iontophoresis

Iontophoresis consists of an instrumental physical process that allows the penetration of meds dissolved in a water solution through the tissues, thanks to the one-way electrical current.

It's a therapy suitable for traumatic, inflammatory and degenerative diseases.

Tens

Tens is an electrical therapy that makes use of the transcutaneous electrical stimulation.

Tens employs the usage of a pulsed electrical current that tackles the physical pain due to various causes: tenderness, neuralgia, numbness, tiredness, pulled muscle etc.

Magnet Therapy

Magnet therapy makes use of the action of a magnetic field led by the electrical current that goes through an electromagnetic coil with an antiphlogistic purpose that also stimulates the tissues recovery process; especially the ones of the osteomuscular apparatus with a post-trauma origin.

Mains fields of application are: pseudarthrosis, delays in the consolidation of fractures, rheumatisms and ulcers.

Bormio Terme offers the chance of renting the equipment for a month at the price of €250.

For more information, you can address the Thermal Cure department on the first floor of the facility.

Tecar Therapy

Tecar therapy is a technology which opens up new horizons for physical and practical medicine, designed to reactivate the reparative and anti-inflammatory processes of the body allowing a significant reduction of both pain and recovery time from:

  • musculoskeletal injuries (contractures, tears and muscle strains, tendonitis, sprains, synovitis, bursitis)
  • treatment of painful problems with the joints (arthrosis, arthritis)
  • inflammation of the extremities of the spinal column with symptomatology (cervical pain, back pain and lumbago)

Personal Care

Personal Care is a combination of physical and manual therapies which provides an individual client with the services of a professional physiotherapist for an hour-long session.

Programme and treatments are adapted according to the development of each therapeutic course undertaken and the requirements of the client. It is suitable for anyone in post-injury recovery, in practical rehabilitation, in a post-surgery phase, and for the retention of body tone. For athletes, it assists muscle strengthening and the prevention or cure of tears, sprains and inflammation.

After an initial medical examination within the Cure Department at Bormio Terme, the client will enter a course of treatment combining therapeutic massage, hydro-bike, cardiovascular circuit, physiotherapy (inside or outside the water according to the case) and Tecar therapy.
